I used to have pretty bad anxiety attacks and would go to the ER or just generally freak out, but once I labeled them as anxiety attacks, they aren’t as severe anymore and I can handle them better when they come.
But lately, I get what I call an oversensitivity to light. I’ll be driving in the afternoon and have to squint my eyes because the light outside hurts. Or if I have to be outside for any reason, the sunlight bothers me and I get nervous. It also happens with artificial light–Wal Mart in particular, with all those flourescent lights really gets me and I can only stay in there for so long before getting out.
I’ve had eye exams, so that’s not the problem.
I am told that once you get over certain symptoms of anxiety and they are no longer a threat to you, your body can do “symptom shifting” and your anxiety then finds another way to manifest itself. Perhaps this is what’s happening? Now that I’ve gotten past the typical anxiety attack symptoms, my body is finding new avenues? I do notice I am nervous when this “light sensitivity” comes on.
Just want someone’s opinion on this.
